Lotline keeps track of the coffee you own, green and roasted. It traces every bag back to its green lot, books every dose, and tells you which bag is at its best, so nothing goes stale at the back of the cupboard.

Fresh roasted isn’t ready yet. Lotline knows when it is.

Every roasted bag moves through resting, sweet spot, use soon and past peak. Lotline works out each window from the roast date, roast level and brew method, and puts the bag that leaves its best days first at the top.

  • Freezing pauses the clock. Thawed bags carry on where they stopped.
  • Rules are yours. Start with sensible defaults, then change them per coffee or per bag.
  • “Drink first” sorts open bags ahead of sealed ones, so the open bag gets finished first.

Tracing

Trace every bag back to its green lot.

Record a roast and Lotline links it all: the green lot, the sack it came from, the roast with its weight loss and cost, and every bag that came out of it, down to the portions you split off or freeze.

  • Both directions. From a bag back to the lot, or from a lot to everything it became.
  • Cost follows the coffee. The green price and the roast loss give every roasted bag its cost per gram.
  • Bought coffee too. Link a roaster’s coffee to its green lot when you know it.

The ledger

Every gram has a line.

Each bag keeps its own append-only ledger: received, every dose, a spill, a weigh-in. The balance is never a guess, and nothing is ever silently overwritten.

  • Your espresso app books the doses through the API, so the bag empties as you brew.
  • Weigh to correct. Put the bag on the scale and Lotline books the difference.
  • Cost per gram and per shot, from what you paid, including your own roasts.

Scan a bag

Photograph the bag. Check the draft. Done.

Take a photo of the front, the back and the roast-date sticker. Lotline reads roaster, origin, process, varieties, tasting notes and the roast date, and hands you a draft to confirm.

  • Nothing is saved unseen. Uncertain fields are marked, and you confirm every bag.
  • Roast date or best-before? Lotline asks instead of guessing.
  • Part of the paid plans, later. Lotline is complete without it, and photos are only sent when you scan.

Your espresso app books the doses.

Lotline has a small, documented HTTP API. Any app, scale or script can read your stock and book what it uses, safely and repeatably.

  • OpenAPI 3.1, plain JSON, standard HTTP
  • Idempotent bookings: retries never double count

Quiet software for a calm counter.

Questions

Good to know

Is Lotline a brewing app?

No. Lotline tracks beans, not recipes. Your espresso or brewing app keeps the shots and grind settings and tells Lotline how many grams it used, through the API.

Can I see where a roasted bag came from?

Yes, when you roast yourself: record the roast and every bag links back to its green lot and sack, with the roast loss and cost. For bought coffee, link it to its green lot when the roaster tells you.

What happens to my bag photos?

They stay with your inventory, visible to its members. When you scan, a resized copy without location data goes to the AI model to read the label. Nothing is saved until you confirm the draft.

Can my whole roastery use one inventory?

Yes. Invite people by email and give each one a role: Admin, Member or Viewer. Everyone sees the same stock, and the ledger shows who booked what.

How do I get my data out?

Settings has a CSV export for every table: coffees, bags, the ledger, roasts and roasters. The API gives you the same data as JSON.
